Your daily responsibilities include

This position serves dual roles - During the Racing Season, applicant will work as a Horeseman's Bookkeeper.  On the off-season, position will complete Revenue Auditor responsibilities.  Pay will be based on duties required at the time.


This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive and team members may also be asked to perform:


Horseman's Bookkeeper Responsibilities:

  • Tracking the riding accounts of the jockeys receiving fees.
  • Disbursing fees to proper claimants.
  • Preparing and disbursing horseman’s checks and transfers to account holders.
  • Managing the bookkeeper office to ensure procedures are being followed.
  • Working directly with stewards on all fine issues.
  • Reconciling all accounts associated with live racing and prepare W-9’s and statements for all accounts.
  • Coordinating financial transactions with the Assistant Director of Racing and the Director of Finance, as needed.

Revenue Auditor Responsibilities:

  • Verifying, allocating, and posting details of daily transactions to spreadsheet or computer files from documents received from revenue/operational areas such as the cage, count room slot floor,  food & beverage, programs, valet parking, lottery and retail.
  • Reconciling and balancing tapes and records to daily cash counts and summarizing details in customer files.
  • Compiling reports to show statistics such as cash receipts, machine payouts, expenditures, and other items pertinent to the operation.
  • Establishing and maintaining files of appropriate reports, records or other information relevant to the department.
  • Preparing and distributing audit exception notices for irregularities and errors discovered during the audit on a timely basis.
  • Completing and forwarding daily revenue reports for all audited areas to supervisory staff for review and subsequent distribution on a timely basis.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
  • Must be able to perform basic math skills.
  • Identifying problems, collecting data, analyzing, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word).
  • Intermediate computer knowledge including CMS, SMS.
  • Must qualify for a license with the Ohio State Gaming Commission and meet any credentialing requirements of the Ohio Gaming Control Board.
  • Moderate noise level working conditions.
  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
