We are currently seeking a talented individual to become a Seamstress.  An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Adheres to all departmental and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
  • Alters and repairs garments and linens according to departmental policies.
  • Assists with issuing, receiving, and maintaining employee uniforms.
  • Operates all machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Tags and/or marks garments as needed.
  • Keeps accurate records of all material needed and used to alter and repair garments.
  • Follows all departmental, property, and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains inventory levels by accurately tracking uniforms that are distributed and collected; provides requisition information to operating managers based on assessed needs.
  • Reports uniform quality and maintenance problems to supervisor.
  • Submits purchase requisitions for alteration supplies.
  • Assists Lead Wardrobe/Seamstress Coordinator as needed.
  • Reports any safety hazards to assigned supervisor.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all company matters.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; one-year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Knowledge of garment alterations and repairs required. Understanding of garment construction with commercial sewing experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow through with repairs and alterations.
  • Willingness to learn and follow direction.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills; must be fluent and literate in English.
  • Must have strong computer skills with ability to utilize Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around work area.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
