Overview

Penn Interactive (PI) is an interactive gaming company headquartered in Philadelphia with offices in Las Vegas. As the digital arm to Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S., we are poised for fast-paced growth in the sports betting and online casino space. We are also partnered with some of the most innovative media companies in the world to drive growth in our businesses. As such, PI is looking for a Creative Director to accelerate the growth of PI’s real money gaming products, including its online sportsbook and online casino games.  

 

Working closely with the VP Marketing, Director CRM, Director Acquisition, and the Director Marketing Analytics you’ll lead the Marketing creative team, and work to maximize player engagement and conversion by researching, documenting and implementing innovative marketing creative strategies and execution plans.  We have grand visions and intend to execute fast while staying true to our product standards, brand, and core values. Ideally, you’ve had experience growing and managing a marketing creative team, developing creative strategy across the customer funnel for a digital-first businesses in the $100M+ annual revenue range while not forgetting what being resourceful means, and rolling up your sleeves to taking on functional design roles and tasks when the situation requires it.

 

The Creative Director is a key management position within the Penn Interactive Sportsbook Marketing team and is responsible for defining and executing creative strategies to best reach our Sportsbook players. This role manages the entire marketing creative strategy that is inclusive of strategic planning, creative technology management, and people management. Your goal is to increase the player conversion and lifetime value (revenue, time, and profitability) through increased engagement and retention through the creative offering. You are data focused, which informs your creative strategic planning. You have proven capabilities in developing highly sophisticated creative solutions to meet the marcomms plan of the various marketing delivery managers as well as the holistic marcomms omni-channel player experience given the ever evolving communication channels and development of a robust test & learn environment.

 

This role requires strong marketing creative and design experience, deep expertise & a proven track record in creative strategy, as well as the ability to collaborate cross functionally.

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Translate the strategic marketing objectives into clear creative strategies
  • Lead the development, execution and management of the creative marketing strategy. Including the development and execution of the omnichannel approach to marketing and how the creative team will meet these objectives & importantly enhance the marcomms conversion & engagement.
  • Analyze creative data to iterate on the creative strategy and define actionable tactics across the marcomms channel mix for enhanced conversion performance
  • Monitor and report on competitor and market-wide best in show creative, and with the analysis, testing and adopting best practices to continuously improve conversion performance, budget management, and overall profitability
  • Operational responsibility of managing the creative process from concept to completion, as well as leading and directing the creative team in the production of all marketing collateral ensuring at all costs visual communication and brand standards are met with no loss of credibility to the brand based on any visual or creative delivery
  • Excellent people management skills in order to work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, particularly product and tech teams to ensure page load times are not negatively impacted by the asset sizes, or any design focused tool integration
  • In managing the creative team your role will be to review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams as well as manage and cultivate the career development of the Marketing Design team
  • Remain actively involved in hiring and training creative staff and ensure visual communication and brand standards are always met
  • Working closely with the marketing analytics team to build and monitor dashboards to track and optimize creative channel performance 
  • Deep knowledge of (with proven success in) email, social, and mobile CRM creative & design best practices
  • Execute in an intense, fast-paced, and highly iterative environment

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Design & Visual Communication, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field
  • 8+years in a design management role or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Adaptable, analytical thinker who can work both strategically as well as in a hands-on executional capacity
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills
  • Strong ability to manage simultaneous project streams and thrives in a fast-paced, evolving company environment.
  • Innovative thinker who looks beyond immediate competitive set for inspiration and ideas.
  • Hands-on experience working with a variety of design tools
  • Exceptionally knowledgeable in current digital marketing design principles and best practices, and proven success models for delivering best in show creative/design omni-channel planning & execution
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in regulated online gaming or e-commerce marketing not required, but highly regarded
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work under the pressure of short time constraints 
  • Must have technical proficiency and knowledge in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) 
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of design creation and tools (included but limited to social, display, onsite/online, email, landing page creation, gif and video creation, traditional media)
  • Proven experience coding in HTML and CSS
  • Passion for sports AND/OR sports betting not required but highly regarded
