  • Overview

    Under general supervision, the Buyer procures goods and services, including warehouse inventory items, direct receiving items, and special project purchases. The Buyer exercises buying responsibilities and judgments on the basis of the best value, considering quantity, quality and service for L’Auberge Lake Charles.

    Your daily responsibilities include

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    1. Represents the property for all of their procurement needs.
    2. Ensures that L’Auberge is coordinated in the procurement needs, that maximum regional leverage and efficiency is obtained, that there is a drive for common items to the extent it makes sense, and that L’Auberge complies with regional and national contract agreements and other commitments.
    3. Reviews requisitions, contracts vendors, and purchases goods and services based on agreed upon price, quantity and quality, ensuring timely procurement of goods at price/value to meet the needs of the client properties/departments.
    4. Communicates and coordinates with departments in order to understand needs, and anticipate and resolve issues, ensuring customer satisfaction and that purchasing services meet the needs of the organization.
    5. Reviews bids for all major purchases to ensure securing the most advantageous terms in relation to price, quantity, quality, service level and delivery schedule.
    6. Researches and communicates with existing and potential vendors in order to cultivate working relationships, negotiate cost effective purchase orders and contracts, and develop most advantageous price, quality, and service in all agreements.
    7. Reviews inventory and places order in order to maintain par levels of inventory which best meets the department’s requirements.
    8. Works with vendors to resolve discrepancies, return items and coordinate delivery schedules in order to ensure timely delivery of quality product that meets department needs.
    9. Researches price variances and provides direction for Accounts Payable.
    10. Responsible for the creation for holiday notifications to the property- Ex. Delivery Changes, order change requests, supplier and warehouse closures.
    11. Completion of property savings report (submitted to SCM).
    12. Have a positive impact of diversity/state procurement goals or other property specific goals.
    13. Oversee speck change/rollouts and system change overs.

    To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

    • At least 3 years experience in purchasing or supply chain management with significant demonstrated responsibility in purchasing is preferred.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid gaming licenses
    • Solid working knowledge of strategic sourcing and purchasing with particular emphasis on food & beverage, engineering, hospitality and gaming supplies and services.
    • Demonstrated ability in working plans across multiple business units
    • Thorough knowledge of hotel/casino industry supply chain functions.
    • Thorough knowledge of automated purchasing and inventory systems is preferred. Experience in MMS (Stratton Warren) preferred
    • Effective and demonstrated skills in communication, negotiation, managing by influence.
    • Strong analytics, such as price/cost analysis and demand planning.
    • Ability to motivate, direct, and communicate effectively with coworkers and employees.
    • BA/BS degree in Business or closely related field is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.

     

     

    These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field and at least 1-year experience directly related to the accountabilities specified, or a combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
