  • Overview

    The Retama Park Security Officer maintains security protection which includes money transactions, public relations, crowd control, performing command center functions, assisting guests, customers and team members as needed to maintain order; provides administrative support to the Security Supervisor; and performs related tasks within the area of assignment.

    Your daily responsibilities include

    Assumes responsibility for maintaining security protection for money transactions, public relations, crowd control, performing command center functions, assisting guests, customers and team members as needed to maintain order.


    Assists sick or injured patrons and team members...


    Assists various departments in removing and transporting money.


    Attends all safety classes; reports unsafe and or hazardous conditions to management staff.


    Assists patrons and team members with directions and proper procedures.


    Checks identification of all persons that appear to be under twenty-one (21) years of age.


    May assist in the handling of horses.


    Composes accident and incident reports and witness statements when necessary.


    Performs all functions of Fire Safety Officer, including monitoring of surveillance equipment, alarms, recording devices, multiplexers and intercom system according to established procedures.


    Operations company vehicles in a safe manner.


    Perform dispatch activities and log all dispatches accurately.


    Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and innovations in the field of security.


    Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

    To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set


    (Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)


    Some experience to effectively perform the position duties, with at least two (2) months on the job training or related experience.



    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

    Possession of, and ability to maintain a valid drivers license, Texas Racing Commission license and Texas Department of Safety Private Security Bureau license.

    Must be bonded with no felony convictions.

    Must successfully pass background check

    Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

    Must be eighteen (18)) years of age

    Must be willing to work a variety of shifts to include swing shifts and holidays if needed





    Knowledge of:

    Operations, services and activities of facility and event security; principles and practices of security and investigative procedures; knowledge of civil and criminal laws; principles and techniques of laws concerning powers of arrest and electronic, video and alarm functions; principles and practices of First Aide; venue and facility points of interest, design and set up; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.


    Ability to:

    Secure assigned areas of the department; identify and quickly respond to potential problems and conflict and defend self and others in combative situations; adjust to varying levels of crowds, noise levels, smoke and weather conditions; to lift, push and pull drop boxes and money carts; to assist sick or injured customers or team members; operates a variety of equipment to include hand radios, monitors, fire extinguishers, resuscitation equipment, recording devices, alarm key board, map computer, camera and monitor switching key board, video thermal printer, quad screen splitter, pan-tilt zoom video cameras, video monitors, two war radio, door access control panel and multi-switcher intercom panel; interpret and explain policies and procedures; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.
