    The Retama Park Facilities Maintenance Engineer position works under general supervision, and is responsible for performing journeyman level trade work in the areas of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting and mechanical to ensure upkeep, appearance and functionality of facility. 

    Your daily responsibilities include

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

     

    • Works under general supervision, and is responsible for performing journeyman level trade work in the areas of carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting and mechanical in the performance of daily job assignments.
    • Works from blueprints and drawings in constructing and repairing woodwork.
    • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools and power tools.
    • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
    • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace.
    • Assist with the set up and removal of special function or promotion events.
    • Performs minor maintenance with limited supervision.

    To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:           

    (Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis)

     

    High School Diploma or GED, with at least one (2) years experience in industrial/commercial environment.

     

     

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

    Possession of, and ability to maintain a valid drivers and Texas Racing Commission License.

    Must successfully pass background check

    Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening

    Must be eighteen (18) years of age

    Must be willing to work a variety of shifts to include swing shifts and holidays if needed

     

     

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:

     

    Knowledge of:

    General maintenance or environmental services experience.  These skills are typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent and 1 year-on-the-job training or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

     

     

    Ability to:

    Perform manual labor tasks in various weather conditions; review and comprehend purchasing requisitions; lift fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis and one-hundred (100) pounds occasionally; operate electric and manual pallet jacks, forklift, hand carts and computer terminal; work effectively with others and without supervision; effectively and efficiently move around the warehouse and perform the physical requirements of the position; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret policies and procedures; interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, laws and regulations.

     

     

    • Proven experience as carpenter.
    • Hands-on experience in working with capentry materials.
    • Works with  other facility maintenance team members in the performance of daily job assignments.
    • Works from blueprints and drawings in constructing and repairing woodwork.
    • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and contstruction.
    • Profiecient in using electrical and man equipment and measurement tools (powered, saws, hammers, etc,)
    • Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter’s hand tools and power tools.
    • Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
    • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace.

    Performs related duties as required.
