    Your daily responsibilities include

    Assists Track Maintenance manager in coordinating activities of workers engaged in maintaining grounds within barn area, including the race surface by performing the following duties.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES other duties may be assigned:

    Directs and assists workers in maintaining the integrity of the race surface.

     

    Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.

     

    Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies.

     

    Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.

     

    Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.

     

    Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problem.

     

    Studies schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

     

    Setting of harrow depth.

     

    Testing of track material.

     

    Measuring track cushion depth.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Directly supervises and assists team members in the Track Maintenance Department.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Must have 2 years maintenance experience in racing surfaces.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Must qualify for licensing by the West Virginia Racing Commission.  Must possess a valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside.  In addition to the pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record in order to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.  Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
