Your daily responsibilities include

SUMMARY

Perform duties to prepare and cook foods such as sauces, pastries, breads and other foods of medium complexity.   Maintain a clean food preparation area.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and promoting a positive attitude to create a fun and entertaining experience for our guests and Cast members.
  • Check and ensure adequate supply of foods and seasonings are available for service.
  • Check that food is properly prepared for cooking and serving.
  • Prepare a wide variety of foods items of medium complexity according to directions.

Have the ability to correctly work most cooking stations throughout the entire property and have working knowledge of all kitchen equipment.

  • Ensure cleanliness of food preparation areas from start to finish.
  • Organize cooking and food storage areas along with inventories of supplies.
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and orderly.
  • Ensure sanitation guidelines are followed as directed by the local health department.
  • Ensure all products are correctly and accurately labeled, dated and stored in accordance with local health department and Company guidelines.
  • Open assigned areas in a timely fashion as instructed by a Chef.
  • Communicate with guests, colleagues, and management in a polite, professional manner and always practice Red Carpet Service training.
  • Follow recipes to exact standards; follow recipes formulas, standards, cooking time, directions and quantities.
  • Attend scheduled meetings/classes/training as directed.
  • Prepare, bake and finish cakes, pies, pastries, creams tarts and other dessert items according to recipe and presentation specifications.
  • Prepare requisitions for food product for following day's production.
  • Prepare dessert displays for restaurants and banquet as per production sheets.
  • Dish ice cream and other pastry items for banquets as per production sheets.
  • Prepare requisitions for items for storeroom for Chef's approval.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work station within Serv-Safe and Hollywood Casino guidelines.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Equivalent to a 2 year culinary arts degree, accredited pastry training or relevant experience with thorough knowledge of various baking techniques is preferred.   1 -2 years experience in French pastries, breads, cakes, pies and other desserts preparation is preferred.  This position is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and promoting a positive attitude to create a fun and entertaining experience for our guests and Cast members. Must be able to understand and speak the English language.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by a Cast member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the Cast member is regularly required to talk and hear.  The Cast member frequently is required to stand and walk.  The Cast member is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, and crouch.  The Cast member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The Cast member requires manual dexterity to operate all necessary equipment.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance.  Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs occasionally.  Some work involves contact with cleaning products and chemicals.
