ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain daily track surface conditions to ensure highest levels of safety, consistency and fairness
  • Identify and procure needed equipment and materials required for operations
  • Ensure equipment and materials are used and maintained in highest professional manner
  • Assist in identifying and hiring competent staff for all pertinent positions in track maintenance department in conjunction with Racing Secretary, Facilities and Human Resources Departments
  • Create work schedules for personnel that maximizes efficiency, limits overtime and maintains budgetary requirements
  • Communicate and receive feedback as needed with horsemen, jockeys, racing officials and other departmental managers
  • Ensure all personnel adhere to all rules and regulations of employer
  • Enforce all safety practices and requirements
  • Comply with all requirements and requests of the New Mexico Racing Commission.
  • Assist as requested in other projects or needs for operations at Zia Park

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have minimum three year’s experience in similar type position or equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide necessary knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Must meet licensing requirements of New Mexico Racing Commission
  • Must adhere to all local, state and federal standards, including OSHA requirements
  • Must be able to operate heavy machinery (tractors, graders, loaders, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to perform duties in all weather conditions

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                     

This job will have supervisory responsibilities.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required. Ability to speak and understand Spanish is an asset.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Team Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

performing the essential functions of this job. Able to perform duties in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

 

Team member could be exposed to an environment containing unrestricted second hand tobacco smoke.
